Don Young graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. degree in Art in 1966 with an emphasis in Graphic Communications. He was a designer for CRM Books and “Psychology Today” Magazine as well as serving as Art Director/Creative Director for multiple ad agencies. In 1978 he co-founded and directed The Design Quarter, a nationally recognized graphic design firm. After a 30 year career as an internationally acclaimed graphic designer and creative director, Don redirected his talent to fine art. He began honing his painting skills by combining his years of design and compositional development with traveling the world and studying the masters. In 1993 he founded Don Young Studio and began painting full time. Don’s paintings are now included in many prominent art collections throughout the US and abroad.
Don’s love of his craft and desire to share his process with his community has led him to his most recent venture, The Painting Studio in the Village of Rancho Santa Fe. He invites his neighbors and visitors to the area to come join him in his open studio, view completed works, and observe him work on current paintings.
